Well said at the end there. It's horrifying that the film is as relevant today as it was in '91.

There's one aspect that I've always found fascinating yet chilling about 'Boyz n the Hood'. John Singleton was influenced by Rob Reiner as he pays homage to 'Stand By Me' (1986) in several scenes in 'Boyz n the Hood'. Particularly with the early scene of "do you wanna see a dead body?" and the final shot of Ice Cube fading away into the distance. It's a genius piece of intertextuality because the way the scenes have been represented to fit the cultural realism speaks volumes of the horrific issues of racial inequality and gentrification.
